| YVES MICHAUD, OUR ‘ELECTRO-LOVER’ PHILOSOPHER IS BACK TO DISCUSS A PASIONATING TOPIC: THE MODERN BODY |
Une plongée au cœur d’une préoccupation essentielle de nos sociétés occidentales. Parce que nous le valons bien...
Fitness / Health / Beauty: my body belongs to me and it should last through time. Specialists qualify it as ‘medically fit’. Something to ponder about…
With the help of surgery, genetics, dieting, electronic chips and devices of all sorts, we can be modified and fixed, and enjoy an ENHANCED body. A new body pictured to the extreme by high-level sportsmen and women, combining muscles, bio-technologies and sometimes drugs. Stelarc, the artist sporting three ears and an exo-skeleton that bring him close to a cyborg, is either totally loony or a visionary genius.
These champions and artists bring forward a lot of questions! What kind of body is that? Is there something like a natural man? Have we stepped into the era of hybrid or post-human men? Fundamental and ethical questions put to the most qualified specialists:
> Isabelle Queval, philosopher, specialist of the modern body and former champion / Paris V University
> Gérard Dine, teaching biotechnologies at Ecole Centrale, hematologist, specialist of drugs in sports, also a former champion
> Emmanuel Cuisinier, in charge of visual arts at the Centre d’Art in Enghien-les-Bains, specialised in artists questioning the body and related technologies. He will be talking about Stelarc, who’s unfortunately unavailable, but will send us a video.
BONUS : Exclusive interview with Denis Auguin, who trains the olympic champion swimmer Alain Bernard, who sports incredible muscles, a great set of records, and swimming overalls that raised heated debates. Read More... |
