Clubbing at school

Without waving away the ever-lasting flute, two high schools in Maubeuge and Wavrin have introduced initiation to electro in their curriculum in 2007. The idea is to open up youngsters’ ears: electro is not only what they hear on radio or TV…
Let’s focus on the Leon Blum school in Wavrin, and how Nicolas Dhondt has been driving the initiative. His pupils have tested track creation with the Audacity software for a year. It turns out that the trend is techno for boys and house for girls! Isn’t that cute?! A creative spirit definitely blows over the club, balancing between mastery of the software, sound recycling and mix demos by NAME Djs. Club members are VIP guests at the festival.
What’s coming next? 2008 will be the time for an electro choir playing standards. And when school starts again in Fall, other schools will take part in the adventure.
